The CITI index is the first quantitative evaluation system based on the performance of the brand in China's supply chain environment management. It is developed by the public environment research center (IPE) and the natural resources protection association (NRDC) to evaluate the public data by government supervision, online monitoring, and enterprise disclosure.
The CITI index is released through the 2017 Green Supply Chain Forum. The forum is jointly sponsored by the China ASEAN environmental protection cooperation center, the public environmental research center, the Alashan SEE foundation and the American Environmental Protection Association. The government, enterprises and environmental protection organizations attended the green supply chain related policies and practices.
During the period of this period, 59 brands through green procurement, a total of 1004 suppliers to disclose the rectification or emission of their violations; since the start of the green selection supply chain project in March 2007, the number of brands accumulating to promote the number of suppliers to 4270.
The top ten brands in this phase are Apple, DELL, Levi 's, Yida, Adidas, M&S, Foxconn, GAP, Samsung and Puma. The top ten are from IT and textile industry, showing that these two industries are in the leading position in China's supply chain environmental management.
Apple topped the list with 82.5 points, followed by DELL, becoming the second annual brand with a total score of more than 80 points. The third Levi 's scored 76.5.
HUAWEI continues to lead the Chinese mainland brand, which can match the international leading brands. In the real estate industry, which is first included in the evaluation, the green estate of Ran is entering the TOP30 brand by extending the management of supply chain environment to the upstream steel, cement and glass.
This assessment coincides with the launch of the central environmental protection inspector throughout the country. The environmental inspectors make local officials feel the pressure, and may also lead to a sharp rise in the cost of illegal businesses. However, this evaluation shows that automotive, paper, pharmaceutical, chemical, food, sharing bicycles and other evaluation industries are not prepared for this. In September 2017, the incident of "break off supply" revealed the risk of supply chain risk that the auto industry ignored the supply chain pollution for a long time.
The director of the public environmental research center, Ma Jun, said: "for a long time, the cost of pollution is low, causing bad money to expel good money on the market, and the green purchase is under pressure on the economy." In the long run, China's strengthening of environmental supervision is conducive to forcing the cost of pollution control in the whole industry chain, which will eventually make the construction of the green supply chain an inevitable choice for successful enterprises. "
In this period, a number of leading brands have begun to extend the supply chain management to the Industrial Park sewage plant and the waste disposal unit to control the possible operational risks. Apple, DELL, Yida, Marsha general store, WAL-MART and other 7 brands will integrate supplier's centralized wastewater treatment facilities into the environmental compliance search area. Levi 's and Ericsson first promoted the independent third party audit of the standard sewage treatment plant.
Apple, DELL, Samsung, Panasonic, HUAWEI and other more IT industry brands have already promoted suppliers to control hazardous waste disposal. Apple, the first ranking in this period, takes the lead in integrating metal raw materials production enterprises into the environment management category of brand suppliers, and promotes an aluminum supplier to explain the problems and corrective measures.
The textile brand began to pay attention to the environmental load of the chemical dyestuff auxiliaries in the production link. The Yida group succeeded in promoting the disclosure of the regulatory record of the dyestuff suppliers and the independent third party audits.
The evaluation found that the construction of green supply chain is still lagging behind in the industries of automobile, paper, pharmaceutical, chemical, daily chemical, food, leather, and sharing vehicles in the face of substantial strengthening of government supervision and social supervision.
In addition to lack of consciousness, lack of ability seriously restricts the green transformation of brands and suppliers. The large number of suppliers, high risk links in the upstream, complex regional and industrial standards, a large number of decentralized regulatory data, so that large multinational enterprises are also facing challenges. For inexperienced mainland brands and suppliers, the bottleneck is more prominent from the management system to the input of resources and manpower.
Ding Shanshan, director of green supply chain project of the public environmental research center, believes that China's environmental information is open to a large scale and is providing a basis for the data - based solution. She suggested that the network supply chain management system should be built together to improve the management efficiency, reduce the cost of management, improve the disclosure level of the enterprise environment information, help the green supply chain to extend to the upstream, and help realize the big rules.
